About Glenville State College

Glenville State College, more popularly referred to as simply GSC, is a public four-year college located in Glenville, which is a town in the West Virginia, USA, that serves as the county seat of Gilmer County, with a small population of just little over 1500 inhabitants, estimated during the 2000 census.

GSC was established in 1872, and had the mission to serve the higher education needs of Central West Virginia. Shortly after its founding, the college gained wide recognition for its teaching excellence, and, by 1931, it grew into a full four-year college. It currently offers its students, associate's degrees and certificates in several academic areas, including the Bachelor's degree, which is its highest degree award.

Athletics

GSC's athletic teams are known as the Pioneers and Lady Pioneers, and they compete in NCAA Division II, in WVIAC, in sports which include basketball, football, golf, softball and volleyball.
